For example, one mini-pledge is to only consume locally-raised meat for a week. “Local” is within 100 miles of your hometown. It certainly sounds like that could be more of a hassle than simply going to the grocery store, but for some, this is a challenge worth the effort! Another example is to avoid all foods if they are advertised as “low-fat” or “light” (or any variation of that trend). This is a compelling pledge because the decades-old attempt to sell these reduced-fat alternatives has actually backfired. It turns out that taking the fat out of foods increases the carbohydrate concentration, which in turn can lead to increased incidences of diabetes. Want to start cutting out all processed foods?
